Video Information:

Top Video: a run at home earlier this spring...

Middle Video: running in the 2D, not yet being pushed!

Bottom Video: A run on Sept 21

(explanation of problems in the run 1. I am three months pregnant and my riding is "off" as you can tell 2. Going to second he checked off at something, but then corrected himself, 3. at the top of third he slipped and almost went down, which you can't see because my sister moved the camera to see if i was okay, and that caused him to also not run home straight.)

The "STORY" of Miracle On Ice

I had planned on making him  my replacement rodeo horse so I really didn't worry about finishing him fast. He has been on the "back burner" for the last year, getting ridden for a couple days, then turned out for a couple weeks while we are gone rodeoing, then getting ridden again for a week, then not ridden etc...  Which was okay because i knew i didn't need him finished until next year or so... But now things have changed.  We are pregnant with a second child (which means not much more riding this fall and not any time to ride in the spring), we purchased a 2nd stud to stand to the public so we'll be collecting and shipping on 2 studs, plus breeding our own  mares in the spring, and now I'll be needing to get the 2nd stud ready for the fall 5-yr old futurities while fine-tuning the other stud for the derbies... This horse will just be put on hold again, so I decided to sell him instead.

He hasn't won much because he hasn't really been anywhere... He's pulled a couple 2D and 3D checks at some jackpots, but i still have not asked him to run hard to the barrels.  I figured since it's a 4D jackpot and I know he isn't ready to place in the 1D yet, why rush him, instead just make sure that he does things right and builds confidence.  We mostly rodeo up here, so getting to any jackpots is pretty hard because they're either a long ways away or going on at the same time as a rodeo.  But, he has been hauled to several rodeos with us to get him "out and about" and he's been exhibitioned at them to get exposed to that atmosphere. He has seen fireworks, dogs, kids, etc...

He hauls great, eats and drinks whatever and whenever, stands for the shoer, etc... He is current on shots and worming.

He is fine at the gate, he gets a bit anxious when he knows he's about ready to go in but you can either walk him in and then set him up to run, or you can come through the gate at a lope. He doesn't run off or refuse to go in or rear up or anything bad like that.

As far as how he rides:  He is really broke well.  He doesn't buck (never has), he has both leads, you can sidepass him, counter-bend him, do roll backs, lead changes, backs up, etc.... He has a solid foundation to really go on with the barrels.

He's a good natured horse who really wants to please, he just hasn't had the time put into him that a 6 year old should probably have so he isn't as solid and as finished as most his age are.  He'll be great as a 7 yr old and even better as an 8 year old.
